We will be holding a Bingata workshop with Yuki Omote as our instructor. Ms. Omote studied Ryukyu Bingata, a traditional dyeing technique, in Okinawa.
PAN organizes this workshop as a special opportunity to experience Okinawan culture, as part of the pre-events for the opening of our art center in Okinawa in 2028. Participants can learn about traditional dyeing techniques and experience spending time carefully engaging with the colors and shapes of Bingata dyeing.
In this workshop, you will use Ms. Omote's original stencils on plain handkerchief fabric and dye it with your favorite colors. You can create your own original work while experiencing the delicate, multi-step handcrafted production process.
In contemporary art, the beauty and physicality inherent in handicrafts are once again attracting attention. Ryukyu Bingata is also one of the expressions that has been passed down, deeply connected to the local climate and way of life. We hope that this workshop will not just be a production experience, but an opportunity to touch upon the sensations and thoughts that emerge through working with your hands.

After graduating from university, Omote studied clothing design at Bunka Fashion College and moved into the field of textile design. Omote worked for the apparel brand, minä perhonen, for approximately 7 years, engaging in fabric creation and design based on hand-drawn designs. ■Vegan Cafe Kurumaya
Kurumaya is an initiative that proposes ways of eating while considering coexistence with living beings.
We aim to provide enjoyable and delicious vegetarian dining opportunities, primarily by producing confectionery that combines plant-based ingredients with spices possessing various benefits, and selling body-friendly catering and bento boxes made with vegetables, bean products, and seaweed.
In 2028, as a new endeavor, we will launch a vegan cafe serving Okinawan vegetables at the art center "PAN Okinawa."
Currently, Kurumaya's online shop offers "Marui Vegan" baked goods, which use Okinawan spices and teas. The packaging for the sweets is an original design by London-based artist Maria Farah.
