PAN OKINAWA
Under the support of Ota Fine Arts, a pioneer of contemporary art in Japan and across Asia, PAN Co., Ltd. has established the PAN Okinawa Preparatory Office to advance the planning of “PAN Okinawa,” an art center dedicated to contemporary art from the Asian region. Scheduled to open in 2028 in Bise, Motobu-cho, Okinawa—overlooking the East China Sea—the project is currently underway.
Based on the concept of “Panoramic View of Asia from Okinawa,” PAN Okinawa is a cultural complex featuring an art center, café, and landscape set within a site of approximately 27,800 m². Developed in harmony with the local topography and nature, the project aims to generate economic benefits through its value as a wellness and tourism destination, while contributing to the promotion of culture in Okinawa and the broader Asian region. The three key elements of the facility are as follows:
ART CENTER — A venue for exhibitions introducing contemporary art and crafts from Asia and Okinawa.
LANDSCAPE — An outdoor space showcasing artworks while respecting the local topography, vegetation, and ecosystems.
CAFÉ Kurumaya — A café serving vegan cuisine focused on Okinawan vegetables.
With the aspiration to contribute to the future of culture and the arts in Okinawa and Asia, PAN Okinawa will organize international-standard exhibitions informed by curatorial and professional expertise, creating opportunities for a broad audience to engage with contemporary art.
Additionally, the project envisions a variety of programs, including community-oriented events and learning initiatives that reconsider the humanities in times of crisis, with a commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious management.
